Employment and Self-Sufficiency

Español

In a public-private partnership between the Office of Refugee Resettlement and hundreds of private businesses throughout the state, Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) matches eligible newly-arrived neighbors with meaningful employment opportunities so that newcomers can contribute to the communities that have welcomed them.

To be eligible for self-sufficiency and employment services applicants must:

  • Provide documentary proof of status as a refugee, asylee, Cuban or Haitian entrant, Amerasian or victim of trafficking
  • Enroll in the program within 31 days of the date of receiving notice of eligibility
  • Have at least one employable member of the family unit

LSF Employment Services include:

  • Employment Preparation Sessions: evaluating work skills of those we serve and helping them prepare for job interviews.
  • Intensive Placement Services: leading clients through job search activities so that they obtain related work skills until they are employed.
  • Job Retention and Support Services: providing counseling and guidance to those we serve so that they keep their jobs and succeed in the workplace.

This program is made possible by funding and support from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (Office of Refugee Resettlement); Florida Department of Children and Families (Refugee Services); and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS).
