With a competitive job market and unprecedented shifts in staffing, it’s no surprise that schools across the country are also struggling to attract and retain qualified, available candidates.
This means that efforts like job fairs and recruiting events are becoming especially popular ways to find employees.
The Lutheran Services Florida Duval County Head Start team had its Human Resources and Education Departments recently participate in a local job fair hosted by Job News– a nationally recognized, direct response recruitment advertising agency based in Louisville, Kentucky.

Currently Duval Head Start is recruiting teachers, teacher assistants, program aides, mental health counselors, and maintenance technicians.
Lutheran Services Head Start was represented by Trina Bryant, Human Resources Coordinator, and Soarve O’Neal, Mentor Coach.
“With the right people, we can provide superb services to our children and families,” says Benjamin Tobin, Human Resource Manager. He notes that in addition to a comprehensive benefits package, recruitment incentive bonuses range from $1,000 to $5,000 for qualified applicants.
Beyond the attractive incentives and employee benefits, the work Lutheran Services Head Start staff is contributes to a greater mission of creating more opportunities for young people to succeed.
“There’s also the pride of helping our most vulnerable…” Tobin added.
And that’s the kind of pride we all hope to carry.
