Anti-trafficking laws

FEDERAL

 

  • U.S. Laws on Trafficking in Persons: The Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000, as amended provides the tools to combat trafficking in persons both worldwide and domestically.

Statewide

  • 2017 Florida Statute 787.06- Human trafficking: It is the intent of the Legislature that the perpetrators of human trafficking be penalized for their illegal conduct and that the victims of trafficking be protected and assisted by this state and its agencies.

 

 

  • Safe Harbor Act:  The Safe Harbor Act, passed by the 2012 Legislature and signed into law by Gov. Rick Scott, helps ensure the safety of child victims who have been trafficked for sex.
