(Fort Myers, FL—September 20, 2021) — As an extension of its ongoing support of Lutheran Services Florida, Bank of America has partnered with CVS Health to fund a no-cost flu voucher program to support primarily under-resourced communities of color. The vouchers will be available to LSF clients beginning October 11, 2021 through March 31, 2022.
“These vouchers are important,” says Jacquie Matthews Williams, an LSF outreach and mentoring coordinator. “They really help the people our programs serve. There are so many variables –lack of insurance, no transportation, lack of information, no computer/internet– that hinder people of color from obtaining basic healthcare.”
According to a 2020 CDC survey, Florida ranked as the state with the lowest rate of flu vaccinations between 2019 and 2020. According to respondents, this was largely due to time constraints and lack of access. The hope is that these vouchers help to remove those barriers.
The voucher can be redeemed at a CVS Pharmacy or MinuteClinic (children are eligible) and will include a digital voucher option, allowing for flexibility in distribution and redemption. Vouchers will also be provided to the CVS Pharmacy and MinuteClinics to allow on-site patients who do not have insurance an opportunity to utilize the program.
“Bank of America continues to be a great partner as we strive together for safe children, strong families and vibrant communities,” Jacquie says.
