Integration Assistance Service (IAS) provides resources and referrals to
various individuals who settle in Tampa Bay by providing case managers and
social workers who collaborate with various agencies to make the
resettlement of individuals served manageable.
Those served by IAS include:
Refugees of ALL nationalities
Cuban/Haitian Entrants,
including Parolees and Asylum Applicants
Asylees
Amerasians
Trafficking Victim
Legal Permanent Resident
(prior refugee, entrant, or asylee)
60 months or less in the
United States
SERVICES PROVIDED
Initial Screening and Comprehensive Assessment – client is
screened to determine eligibility and degree of functioning in specific life
spectrum categories (i.e. housing, medical, mental health, child care,
language proficiencies). Based on outcome of screening, a comprehensive
assessment is completed and case management is targeted to address issues
that create a barrier to self-sufficiency. Or client will be assigned to
Orientation Services only based on outcome of Initial Screening.
Case Management – client is assigned to Case Manager who
completes intake and individual case plan. Case Manager and client determine
appropriate community service(s) and ensures referrals result in acquisition
of community service, tracking of participation, progress, and follow-up on
referral. Case Management is a collaborative process that assesses, plans,
implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the options and services
required to meet the client’s health and human service needs.
Orientation Services – These services are provided to help the
client learn practical life skills in relation to living in the United
States. These include but are not limited to: Daily Living Skills, Home
Management, Public Benefits, Education, Cultural Adjustment, Health Care,
and Money Management. Based on client need; services are provided on one to
one basis or in small groups. These services may be provided along with Case
Management or as a separate service to those individuals who do not require
Case Management.
Counseling – clients of Integration Assistance Services are
now able to obtain short-term counseling via staff Counselor/Supervisor. As
appropriate, client will be referred out for long-term counseling and/or
services for seriously mentally ill (medications, day treatment, or
hospitalization). Counseling is available on a case-by-case basis. Mental
Health Sub-Contract Client Services are also available with licensed mental
health professionals in private practice.
