Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) recently
established the “LSF Guardian Angel Program,” a special partnership
program to encourage congregations and individual donors to join in LSF's
Mission to “Bring healing, hope and help to people in need” by “adopting” at
least one indigent client in the LSF
Guardianship Program annually.
It is only through contributions from generous
donors that LSF has been able to provide guardianship services to the
indigent, but the cost of serving just one indigent person has increased
substantially. It now costs $2,250 per year to provide services to just one
indigent person. It costs only $6.18 per day or $43.27 per week to become
involved and make a real difference. If 50 families in a congregation join
together, they can provide the support to serve and protect one indigent,
frail elderly, Guardianship client for an entire year. This program is a
wonderful example of “win-win” because while the “LSF Guardian Angels”
give, they also receive.
To become an “LSF Guardian Angel,” a
congregation or an individual must become actively involved with an indigent
Guardianship client by:
Providing financial support of $2,250
annually
Sending birthday and Christmas cards and/or
gifts
Making occasional telephone calls to speak
to the client
Visiting the client, if possible, to
establish an ongoing relationship
In return, the congregation and/or the
individual will receive:
Monthly letters reporting on the client’s
progress
An “LSF Guardian Angels” membership
plaque
The peace that comes from knowing you’ve
made a real difference in the life of a person who is alone and in
desperate need
