Services Florida is continuing to respond to Haitian needs as more and more of
the injured and ill from the Jan. 12 earthquake come into Tampa. "This has involved meeting arriving flights at
the airport and coordinating with area hospitals for those who are injured
and ill," said Sipes. "For those healthy individuals that are
accompanying them, we have been providing immediate cash assistance,
clothing, transportation, housing and other services."

LSF Client Flies to Haiti to Give Medical Aid
Career Laddering Graduate Is Licensed Doctor
A former client of Lutheran Services
Florida and graduate of LSF's Career Laddering program has taken a
flight to Haiti to provide medical assistance following that country's
earthquake earlier this month. Dr. Pierre Andre Frantz Ovide flew
to his former home and hospital where he practiced in Deschapelles,
Haiti to serve there for ten days as part of a team of three doctors.

Launched Sarasota Guardianship in 1990
Anne Ridings, Director of the LSF Guardianship programs in Sarasota and
Venice, celebrated 20 years with Lutheran Services in January. She
was originally hired to launch the program in Sarasota for LSF in 1990.

Helping Haitians Arriving in Florida after Earthquake
Lutheran
Services Florida (LSF) staff and volunteers are working around the clock to assist in the
processing of Haitians arriving in Florida following the devastating earthquake
that struck the nation's capital on Jan. 12. About 25,000 Haitian Americans holding dual citizenship
in the United States and Haiti are expected to arrive in the next week, mostly in Florida, according to Eric Tillich, Vice President for Agency
Advancement at LSF.
