Sarasota Silent Auction Nets

$44,000 with 425 Attending

The 14th Annual Sunset Silent Auction brought in proceeds of more than $44,000 for the Sarasota and Venice Guardianship programs of Lutheran Services Florida.  Over 425 people attended the event, held at the Chelsea Center on Oct. 10.    Click here to read the story.

 

 

LSF, YMCA to Expand Early Head Start in Hillsborough

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) and the YMCA have joined forces to assist Hillsborough County Head Start to expand the Early Head Start offerings in Hillsborough County beginning in January 2010.  Click here to read the story.

 

 

Three PEPPI Staffers Celebrate 20 Years at LSF

Three staff members of PEPPI Head Start in Belle Glade celebrated their 20th anniversaries at Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) in October.  They are Sarah Canty, Gloria Willis and Rose Gooden.  PEPPI Head Start provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income pre-school children and their families.  Click here to read the story.

 

 

15 Volunteers Honored by LSF at
Hillsborough County Dinner

Fifteen volunteers from Lutheran Churches in Hillsborough County were honored by Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) at a Good Samaritan Dinner on Oct. 11.  The dinner was held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Tampa.  Click here to read the story.

 

 

LSF Board Adds Member, Recognizes One Outgoing

The Board of Directors for Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) added a new member and recognized a long-serving outgoing member at its meeting in Tampa on Thu., Oct. 22.  Added to the Board of Directors was John Bauder of Tampa.  Recognized for his nine years of service was the Rev. Obama Declares H1N1 Flu a National Emergency

President Barack Obama has declared the spread of the H1N1 flu a national emergency, giving his health chief and hospitals greater powers to deal with the pandemic.  The Florida Department of Health reports more than 130 deaths in the state from the outbreak as of Oct. 20.  Click here to read the Miami Herald story on the President's declaration.  For other information on the preventing the flu and the vaccine, click the links below:
