Eric Tillich Begins as Vice President

of Advancement at LSF

Brings 18 Years Experience as Fund Raiser

Eric Tillich took up the position of as the Vice President of Advancement at Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) on June 15, bringing 18 years of fundraising experience to the organization.  The position is a new one at LSF, bringing together the work of development, church and community relations and public relations.  Click here to read the story.

 

 

Apostles Village Dedicated: Low-Income Housing

Joint Project of Apostles Lutheran, LSF

Nearly a year to the day after ground breaking, Apostles Village was dedicated on June 7 in Brandon, FL to provide low-income housing for the elderly.  About 225 people attended.  The building project was jointly planned and sponsored by Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) and Apostles Lutheran Church.  Click here to read the story.

 

 

Over 225 Mark World Refugee Day at USF

Proclamations from 4 Communities & the Governor

More than 225 people gathered at the University of South Florida (USF) on June 19 to commemorate World Refugee Day, annually designated on June 20 by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to honor refugees worldwide.  This year's event carried the theme "Real People, Real Needs" and was jointly sponsored by Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) and the USF International Affairs Department.  Click here to read the story and see a photo gallery.

 

 

23 Volunteers Honored by LSF at Miami Dinner

Youngest Honoree Is 14 Years Old

Twenty one volunteers from Miami-Dade area Lutheran Churches were honored by Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) at a Good Samaritan Dinner on June 21.  Honorees included 14 year old Louis F. Former LSF Refugee Fulfills Dream by Graduating
from Community College in Pasco County

David Ghai, a former Lost Boy of Sudan who was settled in Pasco County by Lutheran Services Florida, has fulfilled a dream by graduating from Pasco-Hernando Community College, receiving an Associate of Arts degree.  "I was so excited," he said.  "It was a a moment I didn't expect."  Click here to read this St. Petersburg Times article on David's treacherous journey from Sudan to Ethiopia to Pasco County.
