12-16 Named Storms, 2-5 Major Hurricanes

Groundbreaking Held for Housing

Low-Income Elderly in Brandon

Joint Project of LSF and Apostles Lutheran

Groundbreaking for Apostles Village, a joint project of Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) and Apostles Lutheran Church in Brandon, FL to provide housing for low-income elderly, took place on Sun., May 25 at 1 p.m.  Apostles Village will be a 55-unit apartment complex located adjacent to the church and near an existing community center. LSF to Send Foster Kids to Summer Camp

Lutheran Services Florida is planning to send 32 children in their foster care program and youth shelters to camp this summer at Luther Springs in Hawthorne, FL.  "This is very exciting because most of these children have never been out of the Fort Myers area, much less to camp," said Patricia Leonard, LSF Director for the Southwest Region.  Click here to read the story.

 

 

Tampa Bay to Celebrate World Refugee Day on June 20

Mayor Issues Proclamation for City of Tampa

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) and the University of South Florida (USF) International Affairs Department will hold a news conference on Fri., June 20, to commemorate World Refugee Day, designated by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to honor refugees worldwide.  All other Tampa Bay area refugee resettlement organizations — Catholic Charities, Gulf Coast Jewish Family Services and the Florida Center for Survivors of Torture — will join LSF in celebrating the many contributions refugees make to their communities.  Click here to read the story.
