LSF Advisory Committee Recognizes Foster Parents

January 3, 2012

LARGO – The Lutheran Services Florida Foster Parent Advisory Committee will recognize Kelly and Alex Passarello as Foster Parents of the Month at the Pasco Foster Parents Association Meeting on Jan. 9.

They were nominated for the honor by their LSF Case Manager Dana Pizzi during the Pinellas CMO monthly All-Team Meeting in Largo last month.

Ms. Pizzi says of the Passarellos: “They go above and beyond!” The couple recently picked up the foster child’s biological mother at 5:30 a.m. to take her to the hospital so the child could have his tonsils removed. They keep in touch with the biological parents and supervise visits at least once a week, despite the fact that the foster parents live in Land O’ Lakes and the biological parents live in St. Petersburg.

The LSF Foster Parent Advisory Committee was formed in October with a group of veteran foster parents on board. Below are their Mission, Vision and Goals.

Mission

In partnership with our foster families, we are committed as a team to make a difference one child and one family at a time.

Vision

Our vision is that every child will grow up in a safe, loving, and stable family.

Goals

  • Improve relations between case management and foster care
  • Increase communication
  • Increase Quality Parenting Initiatives
  • Lutheran Services Florida provides child welfare case management and adoption-related services for some 1,000 children and families in Pinellas County in partnership with Eckerd Community Alternatives.

For more information on the Pinellas CMO Program or the LSF Foster Parent Advisory Committee, contact Pinellas CMO Director Terri Balliet at tballiet@lsfnet.org or 727-456-0600.
