Four New Members Join LSF Board
31 October 2011 TAMPA – Lutheran Services Florida welcomed four new members to its Board of Directors during the board's October meeting.
William B. (Bill) Horne II of Clearwater
Horne currently serves as a Board Member for the
Alliance for Innovation, Morton Plant Mease Hospital, and the National Forum
of Black Public Administrators. He is a Clearwater Jazz Holiday Foundation
Board Member and an ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) Church
Council Member. He previously served as a Board Member for United Way of
Tampa Bay and Directions for Mental Health.
He holds a B.A. in Chemistry from the University of
Tulsa, M.A. in Human Resources from Pepperdine University, and M.A. in
Political Science from Auburn University in Montgomery. He also holds an
Executive Fellows Certificate from the University of South Florida.
Horne was named ASPA (American Society for Public
Administration) Suncoast Chapter Public Administrator of the Year in 2002
and received the ASPA Suncoast Chapter Picot Floyd Public Leadership Award
in 2006. He was honored as Pinellas County Schools Outstanding School
Volunteer in 2002.
Laurel W. Marc-Charles of Miami
Mrs. Marc-Charles has been a Delegate to the
Florida-Bahamas Synod of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America)
Churchwide Assembly and twice served as Chairperson of the Miami-Dade/Monroe
Conference of the ELCA. She has served Lutheran Services Florida as both
Chair and Member of the Miami-Dade Advisory Council.
She holds a B.A. in English from Loyola University and
a J.D. from the University of Miami.
Rev. James H. Rockey of Belleview
Pastor Rockey entered the ministry in 1998 after
working for the Texas Department of Human Services and for Allstate
Insurance as a Claims Manager. He previously served as Associate Pastor at
Zion (Fort Myers) and Pastor at Our Savior (Nashville, Tenn.).
He serves as Sumter Ministerial Association President,
United Way Allocations Board Member, Sumter County Economic Development Task
Force Advisor, Harlem Heights Foundation Board Member, Florida-Georgia
District Pastors’ Conference Program Committee Member, and Hurricane Unmet
Needs Committee Member for the Florida-Georgia District and Lutheran
Services Florida.
Pastor Rockey holds a B.A. in Communications from
Concordia College and a Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary. He also
earned a four-year certificate from the Pastoral Leadership Institute.
Jon G. Wareham of Merritt Island
He previously served as Principal and an Advisory
Member of the Board of Christian Education at St. Peter’s Lutheran
Church in Belle Glade, Faith Lutheran Church in Sebring, and Trinity
Lutheran Church in Marietta, Ga., and the School Ministry Board at Faith
Lutheran Church, Marietta, Ga.
Wareham served as President of the Florida-Georgia
District of LCMS (Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod) Lutheran Administrators’
Association and a Board Member of the Florida-Georgia District of LCMS
School Ministry Advisory Committee. He served as a Member of the
Florida-Georgia President’s Convocation Planning Committee in 2002 and 2005,
and as Chair of the Florida-Georgia Lutheran Educators’ Conference Planning
Committee in 2003.
He holds a B.A. from Concordia University and a
Master of Education Degree from the University of South Florida. He holds a
Georgia Educator Certificate and a Florida Educator Certificate, both
in Educational Leadership and Social Sciences. He earned a Leadership
Development Certificate from the Florida-Georgia District of LCMS.
