Sarasota Guardianship Hosts Auction with 'Sock Hop' Theme

22 August 2011

SARASOTA – Lutheran Services Florida’s Sarasota Guardianship Program will host its 16th Annual Sunset Silent Auction on Saturday, October 15, from 6-11 p.m.

The event will be held at The Chelsea Center, 2506 Gulf Gate Drive, Sarasota. Doors open at 6 p.m. The silent auction lasts until 8 p.m., when a live auction will begin.

Dress is casual or 1950s dancewear, as this year’s theme is “Sock Hop.”

Entertainment will be provided by Queens of the Jukebox and DJ Art Talbot, and the Heather Downie Band.

Individual admission tickets are $40 in advance or $45 at the door. Patron tickets are $50. All tickets include entertainment, beverages and food from a variety of local restaurants. Reservation checks may be made payable to LSF, P.O. Box 848, Sarasota, FL 34230-0848. For more information, call LSF Sarasota Guardianship Director Anne Ridings at 941-358-6330 or email her at aridings@lsfnet.org.

Last year’s event raised $50,000 for the Sarasota Guardianship Program, which serves some 350 clients each year. Guardians are appointed by the courts to act on behalf of those who cannot handle their own affairs because of physical injuries, mental illness, developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s disease or other age-related dementia. Nearly 70 percent of those under LSF Guardianship are indigent. As guardian, LSF works to protect some of the community’s most vulnerable citizens from abuse, neglect and exploitation.

Food for the event will be provided by: Beautiful Cakes by Ron, Bonefish Grill, Captain Curt’s, Five Points Deli, Gold Rush Barbeque, Heron Communities, Longhorn Steakhouse, Maria’s Italian Kitchen, Michael’s on East, Morton’s Gourmet Market, Mr. Cheesecake, NV Custom Chocolates, Patty’s on Main, Rico’s Pizzeria and Pasta House, Sarasota County Fire Department Station 2, Sugar & Spice, The Lazy Lobster and Troyer’s Dutch Heritage.

LSF would like to thank all our generous sponsors for this year’s event.
