LSF Holds
Bicycle Drive for Refugees
12 May 2010
TAMPA –
Do you have a used bicycle you don’t ride any more? Or even a new bicycle
you’ve never ridden at all?
Help someone who could really use those wheels by donating your bicycle to
Lutheran Services Florida.
Bicycles collected will be given to clients in LSF’s refugee employment
program in Hillsborough County who need transportation to and from work. The
program helps documented refugees, asylees, Cuban or Haitian entrants,
Amerasians or victims of trafficking find employment. Refugees are eligible
for counseling and assistance with employment, immigration and citizenship
paperwork.
“Having a bicycle makes a real difference for someone who doesn’t have a car
or doesn’t live close to public transportation,” said Rubis Castro, Tampa
Bay Regional Director for LSF. “It’s hard to find and keep a job if you
don’t have a way to get to work.”
Bicycles may be dropped off at the LSF Tampa Bay Regional Office at 3625
West Waters Avenue, Tampa, FL 33614.
Bikes must be in working condition.
For more information, call LSF at 813-770-1250.
