Excellence Award from Thrivent

Danielle Kearney, Director of Church and Community Relations for Lutheran Services Florida (LSF), has been given the 2008 Volunteer Excellence Award for the Florida Region by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, a fraternal agency serving Lutherans nationwide.  The award was presented at a luncheon on Wed., Mar. 25 in Ms. Kearney's honor given at LSF Central Services in Tampa by Thrivent.

The award recognizes the volunteer work that Ms. Kearney has done over the years serving on the East Hillsborough County Chapter of Thrivent.  Along with the award, Ms. Kearney was given $250, which she has donated to the food bank at Lutheran Church of Our Saviour in Tampa, where she is a member.

"I enjoy volunteering and learning more about Thrivent and the good they do in the community," said Ms. Kearney after receiving the award.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is a nationwide fraternal organization serving Lutherans and partnering with Lutheran churches and agencies, such as LSF, to assist with community projects, especially in time of disaster.  Ms. Kearney, in her capacity as Coordinator for Lutheran Disaster Response, worked closely with Thrivent in 2008 after Tropical Storm Fay caused significant damage across the state.

The awards are given each year for significant volunteer efforts in four categories: Youth, Working, Non-Working, and Retired.  Ms. Kearney was given the award for the Working category for the state of Florida.

Presenting the award on behalf of Thrivent were  Kathy Emanuelson, Keith Harvey and Jason Carrier.
