LSF Board Adds Member,

Recognizes One Outgoing

New LSF Board Member John Bauder - click here for larger imageThe Board of Directors for Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) added a new member and recognized a long-serving outgoing member at its meeting in Tampa on Thu., Oct. 22.  Added to the Board of Directors was John Bauder of Tampa.  Recognized for his nine years of service was the Rev. David Mueller of Palm City.

NEW MEMBER

John Bauder of Tampa is a retired financial advisor for Bank of America, having moved to Florida in 1971 from New Jersey.  He is a member of Christ Our Redeemer (ELCA) in Temple Terrace where he serves as congregational treasurer and has been a member for more than 20 years. 

Prior to retirement, Bauder worked in a professional capacity with LSF on a number of occasions, becoming familiar with LSF's work through that and through his church.

"With my financial background, I feel I have a lot to bring to the LSF Board," said Bauder.  "That's my strongpoint."

Bauder is married and has four grown children.

RECOGNITION

The Rev. David Mueller was recognized by the LSF Board at his last meeting and presented with an acrylic desk Outgoing LSF Board member Pr. Mueller for providing healing, hope and help to people in need through outstanding service on the Board of Directors from 2000-2009."

Mueller's connections with LSF extend back to the formation of the organization and working on staff in the 1980s.

"Human services Part of my life from the 1970s," he told the Board at his last meeting.  "My focus has been the marginalized and the poor, and in my retirement I will continue to be an advocate."

Mueller announced that he plans to become part of LSF's Voices of Hope, a group of retired Lutheran pastors who carry the message of the organization to churches through preaching and education opportunities.

"David has been very supportive of LSF and of me personally," said CEO Samuel Sipes, who began his tenure in late 2007.  "David really walks the talk."

Mueller is a pastor of the Florida-Georgia District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS).
