Teacher Slain in Front of
Students in Cape Coral 4 February 2008 - TW Counselors from the Family Centered Services program of Lutheran Services Florida in Ft. Myers have volunteered their services to parents and children affected by the slaying of a teacher at Bobbie Noonan's Day Care in Cape Coral on Fri., Jan. 25. The fatal shooting by an estranged husband of the teacher occurred in front of some of the children. (See the Ft. Myers News-Press story here.) According to LSF Southwest Regional Director Patricia Leonard, four counselors will work "pro-bono" with families of the tragedy for "as long is necessary." The day care had shut down for the week following the shooting "to allow for some healing," she reported. "We have a wonderful team here," Ms. Leonard said of the counseling team from Family Centered Services. "This was an extremely frightening and traumatic event for the young children, as well as for their families." All of the members of the LSF team are master level counselors, said Ms. Leonard. The team includes: Sally Fontaine, Julie Kuhns, Robin Smith, and Audrey Williams. LSF's Family Centered Services is part of the Children's Network of Southwest Florida, LLC.
