Prayer
Breakfast to Mark
LSF 25th
Anniversary
20 April 2007
Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) will host
a special Prayer Breakfast on Thu., April 26, in celebration of its 25th
Anniversary. The event, beginning at 9:00 a.m., will be held at St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church, located at 5103 N. Central Avenue in Tampa.
By holding the event at St. Paul’s the
agency is returning to its roots. In 1982 St. Paul’s provided office
space for the agency’s first programs – Refugee Resettlement and
Guardianship Services.
Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio has proclaimed April 26 as “Lutheran Services Florida
Day in Tampa Bay” in recognition of the many people in need whose lives have
been improved because of the help they received from the vital programs and
services the nonprofit agency offers at no charge.
Over the past 25 years, the agency has grown significantly in response to
the demand for services from Florida’s rapidly increasing population. Today,
Lutheran Services Florida operates over 65 programs throughout the state to
help at-risk children, the frail elderly, families in crisis, refugees and
immigrants, homeless families with young children, and survivors of natural
disasters such as hurricanes and tornadoes.
More than 850,000 people in need have received assistance from Lutheran
Services Florida during the past 25 years and nearly 300,000 of those helped
were in the Tampa Bay area where the agency operates the Child Care Food
Program, Guardianship Programs, Case Management Programs, Refugee
Resettlement and Employment Programs, and Immigration Programs.
Lutheran Services Florida is a statewide, human services, nonprofit agency
dedicated to helping all people in need throughout Florida regardless of
religious affiliation, age, or national origin.
