Disaster Training Event

Planned with Focus on Youth

For Youth Leaders, Volunteers, Mental Health Professionals

On Tue., Oct. 24, Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) will host a one day training event on two new programs designed for addressing youth facing disaster:  Gearing up-Renew U and God’s Can Do Kids. The training event is designed for youth leaders, church volunteers and mental health therapists willing to help children and youth affected by disaster host these programs at their church or within their community.

 

Hal Shope will lead the event, which will be held at the LSF office in Tampa.  Training begins at 10 a.m. and last until 4 p.m.

GEARING UP-RENEW U


The Gearing Up-Renew U program is a one-day program designed for youth ages 14-18. The goal of the program is to give the youth the tools to face life’s hardships by:

Dealing with fears
Experiencing relief from stress
Connecting with God
Building practical skills

GOD'S CAN DO KIDS


The God’s Can Do Kids program is designed for children aged 5-13 it too is geared in:

Dealing with fears
Experiencing relief from stress
Connecting with God

The God’s Can Do Kids program is designed to begin on a Friday afternoon and end on a Sunday afternoon.
