Getting FEMA Help

Disaster Assistance for Individuals and Families

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provides help for those who have been victims of a disaster with financial assistance for such things as housing and lost jobs and connects them to other service providers for initial basic needs like food, water and shelter.

Those affected adversely by hurricanes or tornadoes should apply for FEMA assistance first before contacting any other services.  A FEMA number will be assigned to each applicant, and this number will be required for other services.  After applying for FEMA, then contact insurance and the American Red Cross for basic needs like water, food and shelter.  For assistance navigating the relief process, contact Lutherans Services Florida.
