Projected Path -- Click here for larger imageAt 9 a.m., the Florida Division of Emergency Management reported:   "Lingering ocean swells associated with distant Tropical Storm Danny will continue to impact the Florida East Coast today. A high risk of rip currents is expected along Northeast and East Central Florida beaches, with a slight to moderate risk of rip currents along the Southeast Florida coast. A High Surf Advisory is also in effect until 6am Saturday for Northeast Florida beaches

At 5am Friday, Tropical Storm Danny was located 400 miles east of Daytona Beach, Florida and also 400 miles south of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. Danny has become less organized and maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 40mph. After a slight wobble to the west on Thursday, Danny is again moving toward the north-northwest near 9mph. A turn toward the north along with an increase in speed is expected later today followed by a turn to the north-northeast over the weekend. At this time, it appears the only threat to Florida will be an increase in ocean swells and rip currents."
